Are these kits beginner friendly?
Yes. Our kits are perfect for beginners. You will learn one simple stitch, and
we guide you step by step. There is nothing complicated so you can just enjoy the peaceful act of hand sewing. These kits are much easier to make than
crocheting characters.
Can I do this with my kids?
Absolutely. Most kids age 6 and up can sew with a little guidance. Each kit
includes two items so you can sew together. A parent can help with the tricky parts like tying knots or cutting corners on the felt, or you can each make one character. It is a wonderful way to build skills and share time together.
Are these safe for kids to use?
Yes. We recommend our kits for age 6 and up. They do contain sharp needles and small parts, so supervision is recommended. All materials meet the OekoTex standard which means they are free from harmful chemicals.
Do I need to buy anything else to get started?
You will need two types of scissors. Use paper scissors for cutting paper
patterns and small fabric scissors for cutting felt and thread. Paper dulls
fabric scissors so keep them separate. Each kit includes a few pins, but extra
pins or clips can be helpful. Our sewing tool kit includes everything you need
except paper scissors. For filling the items we use a chopstick.
What happens if I mess up while sewing?
It is okay. Just take your time and gently undo your stitches with the needle.
Avoid using scissors because you might accidentally cut the felt and that can’t
be fixed.
How long does a kit usually take to make?
Some items can be finished in about 30 minutes. Others may take over an hour.
You do not need to finish it in one sitting. You can store your project and
return to it later when you are ready.
Can I travel with a Mimihali kit?
Yes, our kits are great traveling
companions as they don’t need lot of space. You need a small pouch to store the unfinished item when traveling. It is easiest to cut the felt ready before traveling and take the felt with you. Also you might want to once watch the tutorial, which might be hard if traveling without internet.
What kind of felt do you use? Is it sustainable?
We use a wool and viscose blend felt from Europe. Viscose is made from wood
pulp and is plant based. The felt is soft, strong, and easy to sew. It meets
the OekoTex standard and contains no harmful chemicals. It is a renewable and
sustainable material.
What makes these kits different from other craft kits?
We are designers who care deeply about creating a beautiful and thoughtful
making experience. The kits are beginner friendly but also satisfying for

Will this keep my kids off screens for a while?
Yes. First through sewing the characters and then through playing with them.
Many families tell us that working on a kit leads to great conversations. After
the character is finished, kids love making up stories or decorating with them.
Where are the kits made?
All kits are designed in Finland with Scandinavian aesthetics and assembled in Westbrook, Maine, just outside Portland, where our packaging sleeves are printed too.
What can I do with the kit after I have made it?
You can play with it, give it as a gift, frame it, or use it to decorate a
room. You can make up stories and use it as a bedtime prop. You can collect
more characters and build a little home for them. The possibilities are
endless.
Can I use the box for anything?
Yes. The box makes a perfect storage place or can be turned into a bed for your character. Add a blanket, decorate it with stickers or paint. You can also
collect several and stack them together for great storage. It is also perfect
for regifting the finished item.
Is there a fun way to display the characters?
We love using IKEA frames to hang them on the wall. You can also stretch fabric in an embroidery hoop and pin
the characters to it. Or hang them from a ribbon or group them on a shelf. We

What age group are the kits appropriate for?
We recommend age 6 and up. Some children may need help, especially at the
beginning. Our kits support focus and coordination and are also enjoyed by

What comes in the box?
Everything you need to make the characters is included. You will find felt,
floss, filling, a needle, and three pins. A sewing tool kit is available for
those who want more pins, pin cushion, clips, and scissors. We recommend using the flat end of a chopstick to help with filling.
Can I teach a group using Mimihali kits?
We would love that and can also help you to teach. We are available to come to your location to teach a fun class or can plan an online class with you. Contact us info@mimihali.com
Can I buy only the patterns?
For most kits, no. We want you to enjoy the full experience with carefully
sourced materials. However, we do offer a few patterns and will be adding more.

Yes. We are happy to design custom kits for stores, events, or creative

When will my order be shipped?
We ship twice a week. Your order will leave our studio within one to five
