Looking to add a cozy, handmade touch to your home decor? Our wool felt characters are not only delightful to stitch but also perfect for creating unique wall art. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to turn your finished felt characters into eye-catching framed art using affordable Ikea frames.
What You’ll Need:
-
Your completed wool felt character
-
We recommend the IKEA Sannahed series or its depth and clean lines https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/sannahed-frame-white-00459116/#content f
-
A piece of neutral or complementary fabric or paper for the background
-
Double-sided tape or a glue gun
-
Scissors
Step 1: Choose Your Frame
Select a frame that suits the size and style of your felt character. The IKEA Sannahed frame is ideal because its shadow box design gives enough space for your character without pressing it flat. Choose a frame color that complements the colors in your wool felt creation or paint the frame using spray paint to match your décor.
Step 2: Prepare the Background
Cut a piece of fabric or decorative paper to fit the frame’s backing allowing your felt character to stand out. Secure the background to the frame backing using double-sided tape.
Step 3: Position Your Felt Character
Place your wool felt character on the background. Use small amounts of qood quality double-sided tape or hot glue on the back of your character to secure it to the fabric. Make sure it sits flat and is well-positioned before pressing down firmly.
Step 4: Assemble the Frame
Carefully place the frame’s glass or plastic cover over your character and secure the backing. We have used the frames without the glass and avoid the glaring.
Step 5: Display and Enjoy!
Hang your new wall art in a cozy nook, nursery, or craft room. Framing your wool felt character is fun way to get art more 3D and show your own creations. These framed felt characters also make lovely handmade gifts or whimsical additions to a gallery wall.
